Elected Officials Illegal Dumping Workshop

Description
This class is an examination of the various ways that local governments can use state criminal laws, local ordinances, and Texas civil suits to control illegal dumping and similar activities that threaten local resources and public health. This class is especially tailored for local elected officials faced with controlling these problems in their city or county but who lave limited resources to use. The class will also address the various barriers that local officials face to using these laws.

Who Should Attend
City and county elected officials and city and county staff needing a good understanding of the approaches available to control illegal dumping and related activities. Code and law enforcement officers and other city and county staff are also invited to attend.

Certifications
This class is aimed at local elected officials and will focus on policy decisions, however, the class carries three continuing education hours for code enforcement; RS; and (with the approval of their department) peace officers.
